30 Sep SIN: A REJECTION OF GOD’S PROTECTION?
Sin is a word that’s lost a lot of its meaning; it’s been misused so often. I’ve learned so much about identity and love over the past year and a half, and it’s interesting to me how sin relates to all of that.
The two core fears most common to man are “I’m not enough” and “I’m not worthy”. Fear is the root of all negative emotions and rejection is the most painful to experience.
If sin is rejecting God’s best for us, it’s a rejection that boomerangs and causes us the very pain we’re trying to avoid. We’re rejecting our core selves, the person we’re created to be, in a fruitless quest to find ourselves in our own selfishness.
Our own shame translates a realization of sin as condemnation but the root of the “sin label” is protection of His people and a desire to bring us into relationship.
When He holds our hearts, we are safe.
